U3AOS3 Topic 4: Generators and Alternators

Now that its known that current can be induced on a wire using magnetic fields. This chapter will look at how electricity is produced.

 

As the EMF is the voltage that is produced due the change in flux.

 

If a motor is turned mechanically it will generate a current due to the change in flux. Which produces electricity.

An alternator generates AC current whereas a generator generates DC current
